Some angry youth of the Builsa North constituency have vandalized the party office over the appointment of Mr. David Afoko as District Chief Executive nominee.
The constituency Youth organizer, Mr. Achawie Johnson disclosed that the nominee was not a loyal and committed member of the party and did not also contribute to the fortunes of the party’s victory in the 2016 general elections.
He said, they youth of the area are appealing to President Nana Akufo-Addo to revoke his appointment and appoint loyal and committed aspirants for the job or risk their wrath in the coming days.
The youth later petitioned the President through the upper Eastern Regional Minister, Rockson Bukari to revoke the appointment of David Afoko as the DCE.
Below is the petition:
We wish to petition the nomination of the District Chief Executive of the Builsa North District with the following issues:
The nominee strongly campaigned against the party in the 2016 general elections to the extent that, he received and distributed motorbikes from the National Democratic Congress to the New Patriotic Party members to convince them to vote against the NPP.
The nominee cannot collaborate with the party faithfully, in the constituency because of his unfriendly attitude.
He championed a demonstration to protest against the suspension of his brother the former NPP national Chairperson at Accra.
He is no accountable in the constituency because he did not campaign on any of the promises made by his Excellency President Nana Akufo-Addo during the 2016 election.
We would not want to go further but all the outlined issues have evidence and will be made available if the need arise. It is our hope that your decision on the nominee will be reviewed to consider a loyal and committed person for the betterment of the constituency and victory for 2020 ahead.
The nominee was not part of the shortlisted names given from the constituency to the Region.
Meanwhile calm has returned to the constituency after police intervention.
