Barring any unforeseen circumstance, the Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, will be discharged from the Tamale Teaching Hospital on Friday, a day after he was involved in a near-fatal accident.
The controversial NPP chairman was returning to Tamale after a political campaign at Sawla and Bole to seek re-election in Saturday’s regional executives elections when his car crashed at Larabanga near Damongo in the West Gonja District.
He was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The Northern Regional Secretary of the ruling NPP, Sule Salifu, in an interview on Onua FM’s Yen Nsempa hosted by Bright Kwasi Asempa on Friday, explained that “between the hours of 9 and 10am, he will be discharged”.
“The party wanted to transfer him to Accra for further treatments but the medical doctors said there is no need to transfer him to Accra because he was doing well,” he explained.
Mr. Salifu added, “Doctors wanted to discharge him last night but the rest have been discharged. The chairman is in very stable condition. The chairman is fit”.
“The chairman is prepared to go through the elections tomorrow as scheduled.”
Asked whether he is able to eat, Mr. Salifu said “you know the chairman likes a lot of fruits and last night before I left there, he was taking some fruits”.
