Government has debunked media reports that the Director of Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), William Kwasi Appiah has been sent packing home.
Rather Information Minister, Dr. Abdul-Hamid Mustapha says the man has been reassigned.
A statement signed by the Minister said the decision is part of a restructuring exercise at the country’s security outfit.
The statement named the Director-General of the Research Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Rasheed Seidu Inusah as the substantive BNI Director.
Peter Nyarko Opata is taking over from Seidu Inusah as Director of Research Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. He was hitherto the Deputy Director at the department.
According to the statement, the former Director of the Bureau of National Investigations, William Kwasi Appiah has been reassigned to the Ministry of National Security.
The statement did not mention the specific role that has been assigned to him.
“Government announces to the information of the General Public, that the President has with immediate effect, made changes with the national security outfit,” he statement said.
