Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan has revealed he will be honored with a doctorate degree by The Alfred Nobel University, one of Ukraine’s leading universities next month. News of Asamoah Gyan’s Doctorate Degree comes at the heels of his landmark feat of reaching 50 goals for the Ghana national team.
In addition to being Ghana’s all-time top scorer, Gyan is currently Africa’s highest World Cup scorer. He has also been involved in so many social projects, including financial support to hospital, ailing kids, borehole projects for communities, among others.
One of Gyan’s latest give-back-to-the-society projects include the construction of an Astroturf pitch for his alma mater, Accra Academy Senior High School.
The 31-year-old’s outstanding success in his career, as well as his various contributions to the society, have therefore been duly recognized by the Alfred Nobel University.
He was accompanied by representatives from Alfred Nobel University to the school on Thursday, June 15, to inspect the progress of the almost completed pitch construction.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, the striker expressed elation over the imminent honour, saying that he cannot wait to have it.
It’s good somebody is out there recognizing what I’m doing. I feel honored. Before, I thought I was just doing it for God, but human beings on this earth have also recognized it …and I can’t wait for the day [I will be honored as Dr. Asamoah Gyan].
It will urge me to do more. Like you just called me a Dr, I can’t wait, he said.
The honorary PhD will be conferred on Asamoah Gyan at the Faculty of Law of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on 8th July, 2017.
If conferred with the doctorate degree, he will now be addressed as Dr. Asamoah Gyan and will rank with previously honoured high profile Ghanaians such as President Akuffo-Addo, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, and Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh.
The Black Stars captain is also in line to be awarded as the Honorary Personality of Exemplary Leadership by the same university.
