Three persons have at least been killed in Bimbilla in the Northern region following sporadic shooting at about 9:30pm on Thursday January 11, 2018.
Several others were rushed to nearby health facilities with gunshot wounds.
Fusheini Issahaku, 35, Abdul Bassist Osman, 28, and Salifu Razak, 35, who were hit by bullets were pronounced dead on arrival at the Bimbilla Government Hospital.
About ten persons were hit by bullets when the unknown gunmen stormed a venue popular in the area where many gather for leisure and opened fire on the people without provocation and sped off.
Mohammed Alabani 60, Mohammed Shani 46, Fusheni Mohammed Gadafi35, Mohammed Yahaya 25 and Iddrisu Alimiyaw 28, who had serious gunshot wounds were referred to Tamale Teaching Hospital Thursday night.
Meanwhile Adam Yakubu, 30, and Ibrahim Musah who also victims of the attack are on admission at the Bimbilla hospital responding to treatment according to the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer ASP Mohammed Yussif Tanko.
TV3’s checks revealed that the incessant shootings died out at about 3:30 am Friday January 12, 2018.
The District Security Committee were locked up in a an emergency meeting Friday morning.
Calm has since been restored to Bimbilla township but the situation remains unpredictable, the police added.
