The Northern Regional Security Committee (REGSEC) after an emergency meeting Friday, January 12, 2018 has reviewed the curfew hours in Bimbilla township from 6pm to 6am.
Curfew hours in Bimbilla for about six months have been between 10pm to 5am.
This follows sporadic shooting at about 9:30pm Thursday, January 11, 2018 that led to the death of three persons and seven others critically injured.
REGSEC again has placed a ban on motorbikes with pillion riders.
“Anyone seen riding a motorbike with another rider at the back will be dealt with”, the Nanumba-North District Chief Executive Abdulai Yakubu has revealed.
Additionally, a ban has also been placed on drumming within the township.
The directive according to REGSEC will assist in restoring calm in the area in the interim.
The REGSEC decision has already been communicated to the District Security Committee(DISEC).
Meanwhile, a total of thirty (30) joint security made up of 20 police and 10 military personnel have been dispatched to beef up security in the area.
