The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) after an emergency security meeting Friday has with immediate effect reviewed the curfew hours in Bimbilla.
The curfew hours have been reviewed from between 10:00pm and 5:00am – which has been in force for the past six months – to between 6:00pm and 6:00am.
The decision was taken following Thursday night’s sporadic shooting that led to the death of three persons and the critical injury of seven.
REGSEC has also placed a ban on riding motorbikes with pillion riders.
“Anyone seen riding a motorbike with another rider at the back will be dealt with,” the Nanumba-North District Chief Executive, Abdulai Yakubu, warned.
A ban has also been placed on drumming within the township.
These directives, according to REGSEC, will assist in restoring calm in the area as part of interim measures.
Meanwhile, a total of 30 security personnel made up of 20 police and 10 military officers have been dispatched to beef up security in the area.
