The Bible Society of Ghana (BSG) has donated quantities of Hebrew and Greek New Testament Bibles to the Global Theological Seminary (GTS) to augment the teaching and learning of the Biblical languages in the seminary.
Reverend Dr. Erasmus Odonkor, General Secretary of the Society, made the presentation after he led a delegation from his outfit to pay a courtesy call on the Clergy Executive of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC) at the Head Office in Accra.
The Six-member delegation from the BSG included Rev Dr Odonkor, leader, Rev Dokurugu Issifu, CAP Officer, Rev Charles Adu-Twumasi, Church Relations and Programmes Manager, Rev Sam Mensah, FGBM & Church Relations Committee, Mr Gershon Banso, Finance and Accounts Manager and Mrs Naana Hagan, in charge of Distribution and Publishing.
The leadership of the Global Evangelical Church was represented by Rev Dr Setorwu Kwadzo Ofori, Moderator, Rev Ralph Mac Attih, the Synod Clerk and Rev Mrs Patricia Akpene Tegbe-Agbo, Public Relations Manger.
Rev Dr Odonkor said his outfit had decided to meet with some heads of churches to update them on the projects and programmes of the Society since they were in partnership. He commended the leadership and the entire membership of the GEC for their support and donations towards the 2016 Bible Week celebration urging them to keep it up.
Giving some updates, Rev Dr Odonkor stated that, the BSG had introduced some projects, which included Bibles for Peace Keepers and Primary Schools among others, adding that the Society was raising funds to complete its retreat centre at Kitase.
The General Secretary also used the opportunity to invite the Moderator to their impending the Annual General Meeting all slated for later this year.
The BSG also requested the GEC to support it in its effort to establish relationship with its branches in the Diaspora. On his part, Reverend Dr Ofori expressed the church’s gratitude to God and the BSG for the rather cordial relationship that exists between the two institutions.
He said the Church could not do away with the Bible and for that matter, the Society hence the need to strengthen the existing bond.
The Moderator said he was happy to note that the Church had now understood with passion to support the Society and not rely on foreign donors.
He, therefore, encouraged both the GEC and the BSG to keep open communication in order to march forward.
