Director of News Programming at Citi FM and host of the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday patrons of the Victory Business Summit and Fair 2017 organized by the Victory branch of the Presbyterian church of Ghana in Accra on dynamics of effective marketing for business growth at a programme dubbed Victory Business Summit and Fair 2017.
Mr. Avle taught the participants how to strategically position their businesses in order to get good returns.
“You start a business because there is a provable need for what you have on offer. Don’t find customers for your products. Instead, find products for your customers. How far a business will go, depends to a large extent on the amount of preparation to analyse the competition and the makeup of the constituents of the market. That analysis can help determine where to pitch one’s efforts.”
“We must strategically position our product(s) after asking ourselves, Will people pay for it? Do I have the resources and skills? The need for preparation, positioning, discipline and order cannot not be overemphasized. These will yield multiplication,” he added.
He concluded his presentation with the following biblical quote from Proverbs 30:24-28 [NKJV]:
“There are four things which are little on the earth, But they are exceedingly wise: The ants are a people not strong, Yet they prepare their food in the summer; The rock badgers are a feeble folk, Yet they make their homes in the crags; The locusts have no king, Yet they all advance in ranks; The spider skillfully grasps with its hands, And it is in kings’ palaces.”
The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Ebenezer Asante, who was one of the speakers for the event spoke on the topic –Service Mission: Catalyst for sustained business growth.
He told the participants that their motives for getting into business must not only be money but to “make a mark.”
“Make a mark! That good reputation is far more valuable than anything else, as that is sure way to guarantee a steady stream of satisfied customers. Business must deliver beyond profit,” he added.
Mr. Asante explained to the participants on the need of providing customers with wonderful experiences that would keep them coming back.
“He who cannot smile should not open a shop,” he added quoting a Chinese proverb.
“Business owners should therefore stretch themselves to gain the trust of their customers. They should also not forget that employee satisfaction impacts customer satisfaction,” the MTN CEO added.
In his closing remarks, Rev Dr G. O. Kwapong, acting Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana could not hide his delight at how the Summit and Fair had grown from its small beginnings in 2011, under his direction as the then District Minister, into reality.
