Elmina Sharks FC winger, Benjamin Tweneboah, says he is content with the team’s performance in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) as Elmina Sharks stole a vital 2-1 away win from AshantiGold SC at the dreaded Obuasi Len Clay Sport Stadium.
The mercurial winger drew inspiration from his mum who inspired him to score an awe-inspiring goal against the Miners.
The team went on a three-point fishing expedition at the Len Clay Sports Stadium which was tagged as the ‘fast track high court’ and the midfielder’s second hit rendered the home team helpless as they struggled to beat the relegation drop.
In an interview after the battle with the ‘Elephants,’ the winger couldn’t hide his joy about the team’s resurgence. He also credited his mum for encouraging him.
“I’m happy for the team’s performance today, but especially to my mum, because she called prior to the game, saying I will score. I became excited at our hotel and started celebrating ahead of the game, so I decided to work hard to get that goal for her. I thank my mum very much for the inspiration,” he said
The inexhaustible winger has been the ‘livewire’ of the Elmina based side aiding them in the GN Bank Division One League to gain promotion into the elite football in the country.
He’s still been phenomenal in the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League, their debut season, with an enviable record of 5 goals, 5 assists and 5 MVPs to his credit.
The win against AshantiGold SC has lifted the team few points above the relegation zone with 30 points and lying 11th on the league log.
