The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has left Accra for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to attend the 2017 edition of the Africa Global Business Forum.
Bawumia has recently been on a series of business tours on behalf of Ghana. His trip to the UAEcomes on the heels of his return from Vienna, Austria last Friday, where he attended the World Bank Investment Competitiveness Forum held between the 24th and 27th of October.
Following the World Bank Investment Forum, the Vice President also participated in the 7th Nordic-African Business Summit which was held on October 26, 2017 in Oslo, Norway. The latest on his business tour itinerary is the Global Business Forum on Africa.
The 2017 Global Business Forum on Africa is the 4th edition of the meeting which is organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on the theme “Next Generation Africa”. The event which is scheduled for 1st-2nd of November, 2017, will take place at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, UAE.

The high-profile meeting, will hold under the distinguished patronage of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
According to the official site of the GBF, the forum is expected to be attended by as many as 5860 participants, 10 African Heads of State and 74 Ministries and Dignitaries, with over 160 persons expected to deliver speeches at the event.
The Global Business Forum series was launched by Dubai Chamber in 2012. The forum generally focuses on Africa, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Latin America. Since its inception, the series has hosted 10 heads of state, 74 ministers and dignitaries, and 5,400 executives, as well as a host of influential decision makers from 65 countries around the world.
The 2016 Global Business Forum attracted over 1,000 participants, with more than 100 bilateral investment meetings held at the event.
Programme of Events at the 2017 GBF
The Africa Global Business Forum is going to be a 2-day event featuring a total of 24 sessions where heads of state, ministers and dignitaries, policymakers, CEOs, prominent entrepreneurs, heads of private banks, and other prominent business and investment leaders from Africa, the Gulf and across the world, will deliberate on the way forward for Africa as far as business is concerned.
The forum is mainly targeted at exploring new opportunities to enhance economic cooperation and expand trade and investment ties between the Middle East and Africa.
According to the President and CEO, Dubai Chamber, Hamad Buamim, “African economies are witnessing remarkable growth at the moment, offering exciting business opportunities in a wide range of sectors. Therefore, it is an ideal time to examine these trends in more detail and determine how Dubai can play a greater role in facilitating Africa’s future growth.”
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the METL Group in Tanzania, Mohamed Dewji, are billed to discuss the topic “Industrialisation – the path to growth?”

The Vice President is expected to return to Accra on Friday, 3rd November, 2017.
