It is the joy of every family to be blessed with a child. But sometimes there are mix feelings, to other families, when the baby arrives with deformity.
In some cultures such children are sent to the shrine and sacrificed.
In the case of Miss Hamdiya Iddrisu, her parents defied all odds when they found out that she was born with autism.
The parents invested in her education. Although she lost her father in a motor accident at a tender age, it did not truncate her education. She now holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy she obtained from Tamale Technical University in the Northern Region.
She also did her national service at the same university.
Unfortunately, getting permanent employment and to even eke out a living has become a herculean task for Iddrisu and her mother, Madam Zulfahu Imoro.
Speaking to 3news.com’s Zakaria Abdul-Kadiri at the campus of Tamale Technical University, she narrated that life has not been easy for her, noting that she needs a descent job that can earn her something to enable her reciprocate the support she got from the mother from her childhood.
Her mother also made similar appeal saying that as a single mother, she invested everything of hers in Miss Iddrisu’s education: she herself is now jobless
“I am appealing to benevolent organizations and philanthropists to help her get employment. I have been taking care of her and now job for her is our major problem”
