ASABAAKO-ONE DANCE Festival, the annual Independence Day holiday event, has been nominated for the best regional tourism event by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
The nomination comes a few weeks before the 2018 edition of the festival which takes place from March 2 to 6 at Busua in the Western Region.
Yemisi Mokuolu, co-founder and producer for the event in an interview with the DAILY HERITAGE said “when we started AsaBaako, our hope was to create an event that would revitalise Busua and the West Region to create a gateway to Africa for those who want to make a positive impact across Ghana and the continent.
“We are truly honoured by the support of the local community and the volunteers who come from all over Ghana and the world and have worked so hard to establish AsaBaako as a flagship event that positively promotes Ghana.
“It is indeed an honour to be recognised and nominated for this award.”
Listed by the United Kingdom’s Metro newspaper as one of the top three music festivals in Africa, AsaBaako is a unique, exciting and forward-thinking experience that takes festival goers through a journey of new and classic African beats and rhythms, over five days and four nights of outdoor parties and concerts
The awards scheme is scheduled to come off on February 9.
