The Adjabeng District court in Accra yesterday, June 28, 2017 remanded into police custody the 20 persons charged with murder of chief of Ardeyman, Nii Tetteh Sarbah.
The 20 suspects who have been charged with murder had their plea reserved and they are supposed to reappear in the court presided over by Magistrate Isaac Addo Wedbes, on Monday July 12, 2017, pending further police investigations.
Some of the suspects whose police prosecutors have charged with the murder of the chief are Nii Quaye Kortey, aka Cobra, 39, a carpenter; Musah Mohammed, 28, a scrap dealer, Rahim Yakubu, 20, a herdsman, James Laryea, 36, Michael Akumah, 28, and Prince Kwesi Boateng, 24.
The accused persons were presented at the Adjabeng District court presided over by Magistrate Isaac Addo Wedbes yesterday.
Lawyers for the accused persons in court detested the arrest of their clients claiming that they were arrested in a Police swoop.
And that the lawyers stressed that the suspects were innocent as they did not know anything about the murder of the chief in question.
The court however paid no attention to the prayer of the defence lawyers.
The court proceeded to read the charges of the accused persons to them but their pleas were not taken.
Lawyer Afari Yeboah is legal representation for 14 persons amongst the 20 accused persons.
Nii Tettey Sarbah, Nksohene (Development Chief) of Amasaman, was shot and butchered to death by unknown assailants on Thursday 8th of June 2017.
His body was found lying supine on a mat, arms up and a deep and wide cut on his forehead on the morning of the 12th of June, 2017.
