Apromase Methodist Primary School in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti Region, has been shut down by the Municipal Education Directorate.
This has become necessary due to the incessant spraying of human excreta in the classrooms by some faceless residents of the community, thereby making teaching and learning very uncomfortable.
A visit by the TV3 news team confirmed that the classroom doors and windows have been locked and no pupils or teachers were found around.
The Assemblyman of the community, Nicholas Owusu Sekyere, emphasized that the major problem facing them is the shit–bombing.
According to him, the faceless people have often been splashing faeces on the desks, teachers tables and chairs. They sometimes leave behind remains of used wrapped substance suspected to be indian hemp as well as burning school documents at times.
Pupils always have to spend hours to scrub the classrooms to reduce the stinks before lessons begin.
The problem of the school has also been compounded by the weak infrastructure housing the kids and posing danger to them.
The assemblyman is therefore appealing to the government to help rehabilitate the school to forestall any unfortunate occurrence.
When the news team visited the community, the chief of the town and his elders were in a meeting to find solutions to the problem and negotiate with the education service to re-open the school.
The chief of the town, Nana Brobbey Ameyaw Nyamekye II, appealed to the government to come to the aid of the community.
He described the situation as very unfortunate and called on the people to help bring the perpetrators to book.
