The Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, has stated that the medical director at the Ridge Hospital, Dr. Thomas Anaba “is no longer useful” at the refurbished hospital hence his “transfer”.
According to him, he has no right to stay at post, despite Anaba’s stance that he will not kowtow to the directive to vacate post.
On Monday, the Public Services Commission on the orders of the minister relieved the director of his position. Dr. Anaba who has completed only a year of his four-year tenure as head of the hospital said he will not leave, accusing the minister of “abuse of power”.
But the health minister in an interview with Starr News’ Atiewin Mbilla-Lawson said Dr. Anaba has no choice but to leave because he is no longer useful and fit to manage the new facility.
“I transferred him because he is no longer useful for me to manage the new facility… he can never refuse to leave that position, let him so try it… we will take over our place…,” Mr. Agyemang-Manu served notice.
He stressed: “We have not employed him, he is a Lecturer at the University so he should go back to the University to Lecture because they are still paying him, and if they are not in need of him they wouldn’t be still paying.”
The Minister further added that Dr. Anaba can seek legal redress if he feels he has not been treated fairly.
“There are laws in this country when you feel that you are not being handled properly, you are maltreated you have remedies not radio,” Mr. Agyemang-Manu adviced the embattled medical director.
