Lil Jon builds in Ghana -The One corner craze, Otumfuo’s money laundering brouhaha, Akufo-Addo’s touting of his achievements and whatnots, probably saturated the media to the extent that very few took notice of a rare act of benevolence extended to the masses by a foreigner.
If you’re still not in the know, it has been confirmed that American Rapper, Record producer and DJ, Jonathan Smith, popularly known as Lil Jon has secretly built and commissioned a school in Ghana.
Lil Jon secretly partnered with Pencils Of Promise, a charity organization to build a three-unit KG Classroom block with ancillary office and washroom facilities at Abomayaw, a rural community in Asuogyaman district of the Eastern region of Ghana.
The building was commissioned on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Lil Jon was accompanied by his son, Nathan Smith and wife Nicole Smith.
While commissioning the building, the music icon who is a member of the East Side Boys explained that he funded the project through the NGO, in Memory and in Honour of his late Mother, Carrie M. Smith whose birthday falls in October.
The commissioning of the KG school will bring to an end the initial demoralizing condition of the environment which caused many parents, predominantly peasant farmers to refrain from sending their children to school.

According to reports, out of estimated 200 school going age children in the community, only 75 have been admitted at KG level as a result.
For the success of the project, Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, also supported 20% of the Project out of the MPs Common Fund with the supply of some building materials.
On why he chose Ghana, Lil Jon, who is reportedly worth $25 million stated that his family chose Ghana for the project because they are black Americans and thus bias for Ghana.
Parents and children in the community who were filled with excitement graced the event in their numbers as the sod was cut by Lil Jon alongside his family.
The community presented valuable traditional cloths and beads to the Smith Family in appreciation to their kind gesture, while the children also entertained the guests with cultural dances and display.
Earlier in January 2017, Lil Jon kicked off the new initiative when he made big donations on his birthday to the NGO, Pencils of Promise (PoP) to help build a school in an impoverished area.
The musician explained his reasons for getting involved with PoP to be to contribute significantly in the lives of children who have been deprived of education which is of a high value.
