The ongoing debate about the AMERI deal and questions about its genuity and or rather ingenuity remains with former Minister of State Vicky Bright joining in the controversial discussions.
For her, the previous NDC government and the energy ministry is solely responsible for the leakage of some government documents which were vital for the contract negotiations to the company in question.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana programme on Tuesday, Ms. Bright stated that records on the contract reveal there was some negotiation between senior government officials and AMERI prior to the committee’s arrival in Dubai for the signing of the agreement.
According to her, internal documentation between the Volta River Authority and the Ministry of power which should ideally have been in the possession of members of the committee were in Ameri’s possession before the agreement was signed; a situation she says goes to show that the documents were leaked.
“some of the members of the committee informed Lawyer Addison and myself that they did not even know about the existence of Ameri until they arrived in Dubai to sign the agreement…yet when you look in the documentation on this project, there were certain senior elements in the government who were negotiating with Ameri; internal documentation between the VRA and the Ministry of Power were in Ameri’s possession, they were the ones who rather gave them to us”, she said.
Answering questions about the persons responsible for the leakage, she indicated that the previous government and the then Minister in charge of power should be blamed entirely for the leakage since it was their obligation to ensure concealment of those documents.
“I’m blaming the previous government and the Ministry, the Minister who was in charge at the time because it is his responsibility to ensure confidentiality.
She indicated that the leakage may have been done to influence issues regarding the signing of the deal to the detriment of the country.
Bright Simons brilliant social innovator and researcher, recently revealed that the contract signed between the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government and the Middle East Resources Investment Group LLC, also known as AMERI Group or AMERI Energy “might be the most outrageous swindle this country has seen in the last decade.
”Dr. Donkor in a 94-page statement dismissed claims by the founder and president of mPedigree that the deal “might be the most outrageous swindle this country has seen in the last decade”, according to him, the claims were non-factual
In a rebuttal, IMANI said: “We expected to see some rational answers finally. After all, this was a response that has been promised for weeks on Facebook by assorted AMERI dealmakers. We were sorely disappointed.
Issues regarding the AMERI deal are still being investigated.
