President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged members of the Council of State not to be sycophants but speak truth to authority.
“The constitution mandates the government to select some people to counsel the president. The regions also elect persons to the Council. You are here to speak truth to the president and not to massage the truth” the President stated.
He also reminded them about their cardinal role in nation building, urging them not to shy away from that responsibility.
“The one setting the path does not know the bunch of errors behind, that is why you have come to counsel the state” the President noted.
Nana Akufo-Addo said this when he joined hundreds of guests to grace a special thanksgiving service in honour of the chief of Juaben who is also the chairman of the Council of State, Daasebre Otuo Serebour.
Other speakers like the former Catholic Bishop of Kumasi, Emeritus Kwasi Sarpong, also advised the President to be a listening leader.
Daasebre Otuo Serebour thanked the President for the opportunity offered him to serve the country promising that he will not renege on his responsibilities.
He also revealed that over 1,000 acres of land is ready to serve as a free zone enclave for the realisation of One District One Factory project by the government.
“I have allocated one thousand three hundred acres of land for factories to be set on” he stated.
He pleaded with the President to create a new district for Juaben, arguing that Juaben has reached the status of becoming autonomous. “Our population size is over thirty thousand with enough resources” he noted.
