President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo left Accra on Monday, May 15 for the second phase of his tour of West Africa.
The first phase had taken the Ghanaian leader to Togo, Burkina Faso and La Cote d’Ivoire.
In a release signed by the Director of Communications at the Flagstaff House, Eugene Arhin, the president will visit Senegal, Guinea and Cape Verde.
His first stop in Dakar will end on Wednesday, May 17.
He will travel to Conakry immediately after the Dakar visit but will leave on Friday, May 19 for Praia, where he will be for two days.
“The visits will afford President Akufo-Addo the opportunity to introduce himself, as the new Ghanaian leader, formally to the governments and peoples of our neighbouring countries, explore and deepen our bilateral relations with them, and reiterate Ghana’s full commitment to the ECOWAS project.”
He will be accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway and officials of the Presidency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He is expected back on Sunday, May 21.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia acts as leader in his absence.
