Food and Agriculture Minister Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto is expected to address an international conference in India on a wide range of topics bothering on the developments and challenges confronting Africa’s agricultural sector in general and Ghana in particular.
Dr Akoto will give presentations on five different topics and will attempt to make a strong case for the vast investment opportunities in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
The conference, which is the Annual General Meeting of the African Development Bank (AfDB), will bring together participants, mainly investors, bankers and government officials, from across the world.
It is taking place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Province, in India from the 22nd to the 26th of May, 2017.
Amongst the topics Dr Akoto is expected to address are “Women in Agriculture” and “Developing Africa’s Grey Matter Infrastructure: Addressing Africa’s Nutritional Challenges.”
The Minister will further lead discussions on “Transforming Agriculture for Wealth Creation”, Leadership for Agricultural Transformation” as well as “Engaging Youth in Agriculture”.
He will also have the opportunity to address participants on how the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, intends to transform the fortunes of Ghana’s agricultural sector through the flagship “Planting for Food and Jobs”.
Other government dignitaries from Ghana include representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Bank of Ghana.
