Co-Host of this year’s African Nations Championship (AfroBasket) Tunisia has been handed a relative easy group for the upcoming competition as the North African side is set to compete against Rwanda, Guinea and Cameroon in Group C.
The draw for the continental championship was conducted recently as the tournament which takes place between September 8-16 draws near.
Tunisia who placed third in the last Championship held in 2015, have been drawn with Guinea and Rwanda, two wild card selections after failing to qualifying for the event, and Cameroon who are likely to miss out on NBA duo Pascal Siakam and Joel Embiid.
Reigning champions Nigeria leads Group A having been drawn against fellow West African nations Ivory Coast and Mali with Democratic Republic of Congo.
Record winners of the competition and 2015 silver medallist Angola is in Group B with Central African Republic, Morocco and Uganda.
In Group D, Egypt, Mozambique and South Africa join highly fancied Senegal; the West Africa country is co-hosting the event which will have preliminary games played in Senegal and Tunisia.
Tunisia will host the remaining games in the competition.
