The Builsa North Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Afoko has been confirmed as the District Chief Executive for the area in the Upper East Region.
Mr Afoko who is the younger brother of suspended National Chairman of the party Paul Awentami Afoko on Friday, May 12, 2017, polled 30 votes representing 69.7% out of total of 43 with 13 dissenting to secure the first round endorsement.
The election was conducted by officials of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Upper East Regional Minister Rockson Bukari on behalf of the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama commended the assembly members for endorsing the president’s nominee.
In his acceptance speech, Mr David Afoko promised to make development the centre stage of his administration and rallied the support of all those who contested the DCE slot with him but lost.
According to him, they are all still in the same family, relevant and must contribute towards the larger goal which is to develop the area to inure to the benefit of all.
Some few weeks ago, polling station executives, foot soldiers and party sympathizers in the Builsa North District expressed gratitude to president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for nominating David Afoko as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area
They assured the president of their unflinching support to the two-term constituency chairman and unanimously resolved to support the president’s choice and calling on those who also expressed interest but were not considered rather rally behind him for the development of the district which is lagging behind.
“We are all now resolved to support the president’s choice in order to successfully carry out the good policies of the President and the NPP. Finally, we appeal to all party members and youth in the Builsa North District to be patient and to support the government and the party to fully roll out the development and job-creation policy of the current government”, they stated.
