The Inspector-General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu has directed the Tema Regional Police Commander to take immediate action against any person identified to have caused disturbances during the Ada East DCE election.
This directive comes on the back of attacks by pro-NPP vigilante group Invisible Forces during the confirmation of the Ada East DCE, Sarah Dugbakee Pobee on November 3, 2017.
A police statement said the IGP gave the directive after he and the Police Management Board members reviewed a report from the Tema Regional Police Commander, statements made by Dr. Nii Kotei Dzanie who is a member of the Council of State, Mr Samuel Arthur, a presiding member of the Ada East Assembly coupled with TV3’s coverage of the incident.
The Tema Regional Police Commander is therefore expected to expedite action on an assault case lodged by some seventeen (17) assembly members at the Ada Foah police station.
The police is also appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident to report directly to the Tema Regional Police Commander at the Tema Police Headquarters.
Meanwhile, some disgruntled assembly members have petitioned President Nana Akufo-Addo to annul the confirmation of the District Chief Executive.
