The Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Mohammed Adjei-Sowah and former second lady Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur on Monday will lead the second phase of “Ghana Reads!” to be held at the British Council.
Dubbed “Ghana Reads! Reading Soiree & Honours,” the event is geared at marking the 2018 World Book Day in Ghana.
It is designed to be a mini festival of reading, showcase of books, reading workshops and honouring of individuals & institutions that have contributed in the reading campaign in Ghana.
It will feature various forms of reading—as Read Chain, Dramatic Readings, Read Alouds with Icons, Voices & Acts among others.
Former second lady Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur will be the guest speaker at the event.
Entrance to the event is free,
“Ghana Reads!” is a reading programme by Ghana Reads Initiative (and a project of the Pan African Poet/ Spoken word Artiste of 2016—Oswald Okaitei).
It is a literary initiative geared at encouraging Ghanaians, especially children & youth, to love reading fiction literature, promote the reading of Ghanaian fiction literature, bridge the gap between readers and authors/publishers and teach the skills & importance of reading.
