Above other interesting aspects of the celebration, some photos shared by the former president on his birthday have become a subject of interest and discussion. The photos showed the former president celebrating his birthday quietly with very few members of his family – his wife, Lordina and his last two kids, Jesse and Farida.
Although some few friends and celebrities visited the president to celebrate his day with him, there were no too many guests, nor a giant cake!
President John Dramani Mahama who is of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was defeated by Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in Ghana’s last general elections held on the 7th of December, 2016. The winner, Akufo-Addo was subsequently sworn in as the President of Ghana on 7th January, 2017, while the loser, Mahama, vacated office.
Prior to his departure from the presidency, Mahama severally hinted that he will take a long break from politics to allow him rest, after his years of continuous work in the service of his fatherland, Ghana. However, the president is yet to visibly take this leave as he has moved from one political/diplomatic responsibility to another across Africa and the world since after leaving office.
Among the numerous responsibilities, Mahama was a leading member of the ECOWAS Election Mission both in Kenya and Liberia’s last general elections. In addition to these, Mahama also won the 2016 African Political Leader of the Year award.
Despite living a more secluded life at the moment, the former president who currently resides in Ghana, did not entirely withdraw from public activities in the country.
However, photos from his 59th birthday have depicted Mahama’s life after presidency as a more quiet one. From the pictures, it appears Mahama had a light breakfast with Farida and Jesse in the morning before they left, probably for school while he [Mahama] left for the gym. The family later in the day cut and ate the birthday cake together.
The privacy and quietness of the occasion also afforded the former president opportunity to be more romantic as he was pictured in different lovely postures with Lordina. He also fed his son and daughter with cake.
