A man who murdered his wife at Akwaboso near Diaso in the Central Region of Ghana, and fled to the Ashanti Region, has been killed by a mob.
The 54-year-old Kweku Efo was said to have murdered the wife, 48-year-old Abena Kissiwaa, at Akwaboso on May 3 at about 1:15am after which he bolted.
“He inflicted four deep cutlass wounds on the face, left arm, left thumb and the back of the deceased’s head,” ASP Irene Oppong, Central Regional Police PRO told 3News One Kweku Bio who discovered the body of the woman, reported the matter to the Police at 5:15am on the same day following which the body was recovered and deposited at the St. Martins’ Roman Catholic Hospital morgue.
According to ASP Irene Oppong, at about 9:30 pm on the same day of the incident, they had information that Efo had been arrested by some residents of Ayiem in the Ashanti Region.
“Police proceeded to Ayiem and met an irate mob numbering about 800, some wielding offensive weapons,” ASP Oppong said, noting that the man who was under lock in a room had forcibly been removed and lynched “and the body sent to Akwaboso by some mob to be burnt”.
A reinforcement team was dispatched to Akwaboso where the Police managed to retrieve the mutilated body.
The body of Efo has been deposited at Dunkwa-on-Offin Govt hospital morgue for autopsy. No arrest has been made.
