The first batch of 420 Ghanaian Muslims has arrived in Medina in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s hajj for the next 30 days.
They left from the Tamale International Airport in the Northern Region aboard a Flynas Airbus A330 at exactly 9:51pm Friday night after a day’s delay due to technical issues with the initial chartered flight.

Eighty-six persons who were to have been part of the first batch could not embark on the about five-hour journey due to limited space on the plane.
They are due to join the second batch of Muslims from Ghana scheduled to fly out from the Tamale International Airport Saturday.
Vice President Mahamamudu Bawumia who led a delegation to bid them farewell on Friday night urged the Muslims to be discipline during their 30 day stay in Saudi Arabia, saying “I urge you to remain discipline because you are the ambassadors of Ghana in Saudi Arabia”.
