Thirty-two suspects remanded into police custody for their alleged roles in Major Mahama’s murder, are expected to reappear before the court on July 6.
The suspects were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder when they appeared before the court on Wednesday, June 21.
The Police is also on a manhunt for some eight (8) persons believed to be connected to the murder of the deceased.
They are; Yaw Amankwaah, Kwadwo Fordjour, Kwabena Kenkeba, Tikwa, Yaw Boadu, Madam Deedikor, Eric Asante a.k.a Yaw Agade and Kofi Ahenkora.
The deceased, Captain Maxwell Mahama, an officer of the 5th Infantry Battalion, is said to have been on his daily jogging routine on Monday [May 29], when some angry youth of the town attacked him, allegedly on suspicion of being an armed robber.
Meanwhile, a District Court in Accra has ordered the police to relocate seventeen-year-old boy Ebenezer Asamoah, who is believed to be one of the suspects involved in Major Mahama’s murder.
According to the court presided over by Ebenezer Kwaku Ansah, until the police is able to establish the that the boy is eighteen, he should be sent to the borstal home during the remand period.
Some other twenty-six people who were also brought to the court on Wednesday, were discharged by the court.
