Prempeh College boys got the treat of their lives when Starbow, the leading domestic airline flew the winning NSMQ team to Kumasi free of charge, after the just ended competition in Accra. The flight passengers were a 15-member team, comprising teachers and the contestants of the Natural Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
Ashanti based Prempeh College beat defending champions Adisadel College and 2013 champions St. Thomas Aquinas, in the prestigious competition held on June 29, 2017. Prempeh had 53 points at the end of the competition while Thomas Aquinas had 51 points and Adisco, with 31 points.

Among other accolades, Prempeh was awarded GHC 40,000. But the grand prize, as well as packages from Tigo and GCB banks did not change Starbow’s wish to honour the school for their exceptional performance. Starbow in a bid to show appreciation took the winning team on a free air cruise. It was the airline company’s way of appreciating the boys for a job well done during the quiz competition.
The passengers on board were The students were Daniel Osei Badu a contestant, Wonder Sarfo-Ansah, a contestant and Kofi Konadu Boakye, also a contestant. The remaining students on board the Starbow Flight, were Masters Lord Opoku Gyamfi, Adu-Djan Daniel, Awuku Bekoe Benjamin, Eduful Famieyeh Joseph and Ransford Bio who were all part of the Prempeh College Quiz team.
The team was led by the Headmaster of the school, Mr Samuel K Fordjour and was accompanied by other teachers, namely, Mr George Abankwa, Mr PM Cudjoe, Mr Peter Agyeman, Mr Moses Gyimah and Mr P. K Damoah and Mr Emmanuel Adu Abankoro.
The students were welcome on board by the Flight Captain John Ababio and his team of Air hostess.
Commenting on the gesture, the Head of Sales of Starbow, Mr Sam Adjei-Sah emphasised that the company who wished to be associated with the winning spirit of Prempeh College decided to let the students have a feel of air travel. This was also part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility.
The entire team from Prempeh College were awed by the heroic treatment given them by the airline. As a matter of fact, almost the entire team of 15 were first-time air travellers. This caused great excitement among the winning team who thanked the Starbow management immensely for the gesture.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Fordjour also expressed his profound gratitude and that of the entire school to Starbow for the kind gesture.
