Two people are reported dead in an exchange of gunfire at Taifa Burkina in Accra on Thursday, 11 May.
According to an eyewitness, one of the victims was shot dead while the other was butchered by a mob.
The eyewitness, who only gave his name as Ben, told Accra News’ Ama Brako Ampofo that he saw a mob chasing after two men, one of whom was holding a pump action gun.
According to him, the one with the gun entered a house but turned his gun on a guy who followed him in an attempt to arrest him for an alleged theft, killing him instantly.
The mob, realising the accused had shot and killed someone, turned on him and butchered him.
Police have been alerted. The bodies of the dead have been deposited at the morgue. One suspect, according to Accra Regional Police Commander DCOP Osabarima Oware Pinkro III, has been arrested.
