Police have arrested 15 suspected criminals, including a woman, from a popular hideout for drug peddlers in Tema.
They suspects were arrested from Community 5000, vicinity at Community 1 behind Melcom during a police swoop that was aimed at getting rid of miscreants and hoodlums who deal in narcotics and other illegal activities in the Community. They are currently at the Tema Regional Police Headquarters pending screening and further investigations.
Items retrieved from them include 63 wrappers and 11 slabs of compressed dried leaves suspected to be indian hemp, tramadol tablets, a pair of scissors, lighters, cigarettes, mobile phones, DVD Players, loud speakers and a 43” TV set. The suspects are currently in custody undergoing screening and investigations, after which those found culpable, will be charged with the various offences committed and arraigned before court.
The Tema Police command in a statement signed by ASP Joseph Benefo Darkwah said the operation will continue in various communities in the region with the view to maintaining conducive environment for the citizenry.
