Jack Wilshere made his debut for Bournemouth in a 2-1 defeat to AC Milan that acted as Warren Cumming’s testimonial.
The England international, 24, has seen his career stall due to a succession of injury problems at Arsenal and has been loaned to the south coast outfit in a bid to regain some regular playing time.
He got his first taste of action for Eddie Howe’s men against the Italian giants at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, playing 45 minutes before being withdrawn at the break.
But there were encouraging signs in his display, as he created a couple of chances for team-mates and went close to breaking the deadlock himself on one occasion, going off when the game was still scoreless.
Wilshere could make his first appearance for the Cherries in the Premier League at home against West Brom on September 10 – nearly two years to the day since he last completed a full 90 minutes in a top-flight encounter, playing for Arsenal in a 2-2 draw with Manchester City on September 13, 2014.
