A Local vigilante and a young suicide bomber lost their lives in a foiled suicide bomb attack in Dalori Quarters in Maiduguri Borno state north-east Nigeria.
The attack which occurred on Tuesday morning killed the suspected child suicide bomber and a male security guard who prevented the from gaining access into the mosque.
It was gathered that the suicide bomber planned to attack a Mosque during morning prayer in the area.
“The bomber did not succeed in the attempt. As you can see, the bomber tried to enter the mosque but unfortunately, one of our security stopped her. The explosion killed the suicide bomber and one of our men,” said Bello Dan Batta, Representative of Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
According to one of the worshippers in the mosque, the child suicide bomber detonated the bomb when the security guard overpowered her.
The authorities are yet to make a statement on the incident but emergency security response teams such as National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) have been deployed to the area.
