Lil Wayne shared a cryptic message early Saturday morning that has many fans worried about the rapper’s future in music.
“I am now defenseless and mentally defeated & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun,” the chart-topper expressed on Twitter, followed shortly by another tweet that read, “ain’t lookin for sympathy, just serenity.”
Many have since speculated that the “Sucker for Pain” performer’s comments, who most recently dropped his fifth studio album titled Free Weezy Album in July 2015, signal his official retirement from rapping.
In the hours that followed his initial tweets, Lil Wayne responded, “I’m good y’all don’t trip.”

Just three months ago, the 33-year-old father of four’s private plane was forced to make an emergency landing after he suffered two seizures.
A rep for Lil Wayne told E! News at the time that despite the health scare, “Under the guidance of his own doctors, he is now in stable condition and good spirits.
He thanks his fans for their everlasting support, prayers and well wishes.”
Only two days later, Lil Wayne was back onstage performing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, showing no indication that he’d still been suffering from the incident.
Multiple hip hop heavyweights have expressed support for Lil Wayne since his eyebrow-raising announcement earlier today. Missy Elliot tweeted to the rapper, “Prayers up 4 whatever u may be enduring right now this to will pass & may u find PEACE?? I will always be a fan of your work.” Chance The Rapper followed suit, writing, “Dear @LilTunechi I just wanna remind you that absolutely nothing and no one in this world can defeat you. Tell them devils back back.”
Lil Wayne is slated to perform tonight alongside 2 Chainz at the Made in America music festival in Philadelphia.
