Police have arrested a Nigerian national for allegedly raping a 25-year-old Kenyan woman over a period of three months.
According to the police, the complainant is a student of a private university in Greater Noida, while the accused had come to the country to pursue a graduation degree and had later dropped out. The 28-year-old accused was arrested from his flat in Greater Noida’s Kasna.
“The complainant has alleged that she was raped for at least three months by the accused and she was given sedatives” said a police officer.
Sudhir Kumar Tyagi, SHO Kasna police station said that the duo came in contact to each other in the University.
Rape charges
“The accused was pursuing a B. Tech programme and the woman studied a programme in nursing. The accused dropped his studies over some personal issues and started living in Sector C-5 in Greater Noida. The woman also started living with him since May 2016,” he said.
Their relations turned sour when the woman recently got pregnant. On Thursday she reached police station accusing the man of rape. The woman in her complaint said that she was drugged and raped by the accused on several occasions.
The police registered a case of rape under Section 376 of IPC and arrested the accused. During interrogation, the accused told police that they were in love with each other and had planned for marriage. “The accused said that he was ready for the marriage with the girl,” said Tyagi.
Police said that the accused’s visa has expired and he was also living illegally. “The victim has also completed her studies. They will be deported to their respective countries after all legal formalities,” said police.
