After applauding the fourth official at the Malaga v Barcelona game on Saturday night, after receiving a red card, Neymar will now surely miss El Clasico on April 23.
Although the latter action is not included in referee Gil Manzano’s report, the Brazilian will be punished after the Competition Committee reviewed video footage of the incident.
The news will be made official on Tuesday morning when Neymar will most probably receive a three game suspension.
Barcelona will then present their allegations, and thereafter, an appeal. This will take place on Wednesday morning.
Precedents do not look promising for a reduction of the suspension.
There was no pardon in the case of Ancelotti, Feghouli or Cristiano Ronaldo, and all of them complied with the penalty initially imposed.
The Catalans want to explore every legal avenue open to them what it considers an unfair treatment by a spontaneous reaction of the player.
