Rio Ferdinand says Manchester United “have got the money” to complete a remarkable double swoop for Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann.
The Red Devils splashed the cash last summer, with Paul Pogba completing a record-breaking move to Old Trafford from Juventus.
Mou record that bodes well for United
Eric Bailly was also acquired for a sizeable fee, while an attractive package convinced Zlatan Ibrahimovic to head for England as a free agent.
Numerous high-profile figures have further been linked with imminent arrivals, with Atletico Madrid striker Griezmann generating the more intense speculation.
Real Madrid forward Bale is another to have been tracked by United for some time, with the Red Devils keen ever since the exit door was opened to the Wales international at Tottenham.
Getting just one of the pair to swap life in Spain for that in Manchester would require another multi-million deal to be pieced together, but Ferdinand believes United have the financial muscle to rock the football world and land both men.
He told Squawka: “Manchester United have got the money, I’d go get both.
“They’re great players but I don’t think they’re comparable to be honest. They’re different players.
“Gareth could play anywhere across the front-line. He’d be effective anywhere – from the right to the left, central.
“Griezmann obviously [would play] as the number nine, but right now might be too early. Ibrahimovic is banging in goals.

“If they became available, Manchester United have to be in that.”
Speculation during the January window has seen Mourinho linked with more defensive targets than offensive, but that focus could shift in the summer.
Uncertainty continues to surround the long-term futures of Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial, while Ibrahimovic will need support at the age of 35 and would likely welcome the creative instincts of a Bale or Griezmann alongside him.
