Rap superstar Eminem has released a new politically-charged single called “Campaign Speech”, featuring a loaded lyrical attack on Donald Trump.
The top-selling rap artist on Wednesday launched the eight-minute track – his first single in four years.
The track targets the Republican presidential nominee – and also mentions fatally shot teenager Trayvon Martin.
“Consider me a dangerous man, but you should be afraid of this dang candidate,” he raps in the single.
Known for his graphic lyrics and aggressive style, Eminem has rarely been overtly political in the past – signalling a clear shift in message.
“You say Trump don’t kiss ass like a puppet ’cause he runs his campaign with his own cash for the funding,” he continues.
“And that’s what you wanted? A f****** loose cannon who’s blunt with his hand on the button, who doesn’t have to answer to no one,” he sings, before concluding: “Great idea!”
The rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, makes no claim to moral high ground in the song.
He graphically details the sexual fantasies which he says he would fulfil if he got elected president instead of Mr Trump, who has faced multiple allegations of assaulting women, which he strongly denies.
The 44-year-old also takes aim at Mr Trump’s supporters: “Run the faucet, I’m a dunk a bunch of Trump supporters underwater. Em flows at one point over minimalist swabs of synth. Snuck up on ’em in Ray-Bans in a grey van with a spray tan.”
In response, Louisiana senate candidate and former Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, David Duke, called the rapper a puppet and accused him of “poisoning the minds of our youth”.
However, Eminem has not always been a vocal critic of Mr Trump.
According to US magazine Mother Jones, Mr Trump made an appearance at a Slim Shady – another of the rapper’s aliases – concert back in 2004.
“I know a winner when I see one,” Mr Trump reportedly said to a New York crowd at the time.
“And Donald Trump is telling you right now, Slim Shady is a winner. He’s got brains, he’s got guts, and he’s got Donald Trump’s vote!”
Eminem, whose last studio album came out in late 2013, also announced he is working on a new studio album.
“Don’t worry I’m working on an album!”, he tweeted. “Here’s something meanwhile.”
