Egypt coach Hector Cuper is relieved that his star midfielder Mohammed El Neny will be available for selection against Cameroon in the final of the Afcon.
The Arsenal midfielder missed Egypt’s wins over Morocco and Burkina Faso in the quarterfinal and semifinal due to a nagging calf injury.
” I am happy El Neny is available for final after the team doctors gave him a clean bill of health. He was greatly missed and it will be nice to have him back after recovering from the calf injury,” Hector Cuper said.
On his part El Neny was happy to be back saying, “It’s a great relief. I thank Allah. It’s been a tough moment missing important matches for my country, but finally I am now available.”
However, team doctor Ayman Aboul-Ela said left-back Mohamed Abdel-Shafi, who sustained an ankle injury in Egypt’s 1-0 group-stage win over Uganda, will not be available for the final.
