Dwayne Johnson has wrapped production on Fast and Furious 8, commemorating the end of his time shooting the latest movie in the high-octane franchise on Instagram Friday.
“Finished strong and on to the next,” the actor said in his post, below, where he posed standing next to a private plane. “Thank you to our director [F. Gary Gray] for the vision and execution. Thank you Universal for being tremendous partners as always.”
While The Rock went on to express his gratitude to “all my fellow co-stars for the daily effort and grind,” singling out Scott Eastwood, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Tyrese Gibson, one noticeable omission was Vin Diesel. For his part, Diesel namechecked Johnson in a Facebook Live stream earlier Friday, crediting fans who called for the Rock’s casting.
ohnson’s post comes after a reported behind-the-scenes feud between the two, which first came to light after Johnson called attention to his male costars on Instagram. “Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” he said in an Aug. 8 post. “The ones that don’t are too chicken s-?? to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses.”
Johnson seemed to address the controversy in a post a few days later, noting that the film’s stars are a family and that disagreements are inevitable. “Family is gonna have differences of opinion and fundamental core beliefs. To me, conflict can be a good thing, when its followed by great resolution,” Johnson said. “I was raised on healthy conflict and welcome it. And like any family, we get better from it.”?
(Costars Gibson and Ludacris also weighed in on the controversy on social media.)
Johnson — who starts shooting the Jumanji reboot alongside Kevin Hart and Jack Black in two weeks — made sure to let fans know in his latest Fast 8 post that the feud will have no effect on the action movie. “In the end, we all rallied, as great teams do, kicked ass and will deliver an amazing movie to the world. Proud of our entire FAST FAMILY.”
Finished strong and on to the next. That’s an officially wrap on #FastAndFurious8. Thank you to our director @fgarygray for the vision and execution. Thank you UNIVERSAL for being tremendous partners as always, thank you to all my fellow co-stars for the daily effort and grind. Scott Eastwood you handsome sumbitch! Natalie Emmanuel I have a cold Budweiser ready for you and Tyrese Gibson you still have the biggest smile and forehead I’ve ever seen.???? And a huge THANK YOU to our hard working production crew – the backbone of our business. Your kind words meant a lot to me last night – thank you! In the end, we all rallied, as great teams do, kicked ass and will deliver an amazing movie to the world. Proud of our entire FAST FAMILY. And now in two weeks I’ll reunite with ol’ friends Kevin Hart & Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of #JUMANJI. *(for the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story). It’s also crazy to me how much me, Kev and Jack look like triplets when we’re together. ????????????????????????. Man this is gonna be FUN. #WheelsUp #ThatsAWrap #FromFastAndFurious #StraightIntoJumanji #BigBrownBaldTattooedMan #DarkChocolateComedicRockStar #BrillaintCrazyCurvyCaucasion #TheseHashtagsAreRidiculous #INeedSleepAndCARBS #ButIWillSettleForTequila A photo posted by therock (@therock) on
