David Haye says he fears “something horrific is going to happen” in his clash with Tony Bellew because the fight should never have been allowed to happen.
Haye insists the eagerly-anticipated grudge match with Bellew could end in serious injury for his rival on Saturday, calling it a massive mismatch.
The former world champion said: “I never asked for this fight, I don’t believe it should be taking place.
“I think it’s too dangerous, I think something horrific is going to happen on Saturday night.
“I know he’s getting a big pay cheque but it’s not worth what is going to happen to him.
“I only see him unconscious on the floor for a very long time.
“What’s a disgrace is the fight happening – this fight should not be happening.”
Haye admits Bellew has got under his skin in the build-up to the fight, but believes Bellew is putting himself in harm’s way stepping up to the heavyweight division.
He says he only took the fight because he was pressured into it, but now the match is on he can do nothing else but prepare to hurt his rival.
Speaking to Talksport, Haye added: “This is going to be horrific. I said from the start I don’t want this fight.
“Sky, and all the boxing fans wanted this fight. I’m a prize fighter, I get paid to fight so this is what I am going to do.
“I am training to punch through his head. I don’t care about anybody else, this is why I have knocked out so many people.
“In today’s society what I’m saying may seem harsh but I am a gladiator. You will see what happens to a guy who does not deserve to be in the ring with me.
“I don’t know if we will embrace at the end – I’m not sure if the paramedics will get on the floor and let me embrace him.”
