Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Thursday called students protesting President-elect Donald Trump’s victory “spoiled crybabies.”
Giuliani, one of Trump’s advisers and surrogates during his campaign, mocked universities that have offered therapy, puppy patches and comfort food to students upset over Trump’s win.
“The reality is they are a bunch of spoiled crybabies,” Giuliani said on “Fox and Friends.”
Still, the Trump adviser argued that those protesting the Republican’s election weren’t indicative of college students in general.
“I think I heard somebody say we’re bringing up a generation of crybabies,” Giuliani said. “Most of the kids aren’t crying. Most of the kids are going to class.”
“I speak at a lot of college campuses, and what I find is — this might be a somewhat heartening fact — we are growing up a slightly higher percentage of conservative students now than we used to, because they’re rebelling against the professors,” he said.
“And if you’re looking at the real left-wing loonies on the campus, it’s the professors, not the students,” he added.
Giuliani said his advice to Trump is to urge critics to “evaluate my presidency in a year.”
“Say, ‘Look, calm down, things are not as bad as you think. Give me a year and I think you’re gonna find you’re living in a much better country than you are living in right now. And if not, well I don’t know you can go cry then,'” Giuliani said.
