Newly elected CAF President Ahmad Ahmad has said he is going to count on the rich experience of some African superstars in other to change the face of African football.
Speaking in an interview on Friday, April 7, 2017 in Johannesburg [South Africa] Ahmad said, “I have spoken to Drogba on telephone, I saw Abedi Pele, my colleague’s seen Samuel Eto’o, I talked to Patrick M’boma.”
“We [CAF] will organize a meeting soon with representatives of these African stars to discuss their future collaboration with the Confederation of African Football,” Ahmad, [57] said.
Meanwhile, Ahmad, who ended Issa Hayatou’s reign last March played it cautious when asked if he has plans of changing the African Cup of Nations [AFCON] calendar from winter to summer.
“My first move will be to listen to people and to start an official debate,” he said.
“Anything that concerns the CAN is a priority for us,” the Madagascan added.
