Washington Wizards forward Kelly Oubre was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Friday for kicking the ball into the stands.
The 21-year-old American committed the violation at the end of the Wizards’ 109-101 home victory over Atlanta on Wednesday, a triumph that gave Washington a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven opening round playoff series.
Oubre, who had one point and one rebound in 13 minutes on the court, was selected 15th overall by Atlanta in the 2015 NBA Draft and traded to the Wizards the same night.
Oubre averaged 6.3 points, and 3.3 rebounds a game in 79 appearances for Washington this season, all but five in a reserve role.
He grew up in New Orleans but moved to Texas in 2005 after the city was struck by Hurricane Katrina.
The Wizards will try to stretch their lead when the series resumes Saturday in Atlanta.
