Baltimore Ravens player Matt Elam was stopped by Miami police on Saturday and charged with reckless driving and possession of drugs.
Miami Beach police said they arrested the 25-year-old American after he was pulled over for driving erratically. Police searched his vehicle and discovered a Gucci bag on the floor of the driver’s side that included 126 grams of marijuana, six oxycodone pills, a luxury Rolex watch and other jewellery.
He was booked into jail and charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver, possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving, according to jail records.
Police said one of the passengers was also carrying a semi-automatic handgun.
Elam, the Ravens’ first-round pick in 2013 out of the University of Florida, will become an unrestricted free agent next month after the Ravens declined to pick up the option on his contract.
“We are aware of the arrest of Matt Elam. Matt is not in our plans for the 2017 Ravens,” the Ravens said in a statement.
