Jordan Spieth’s overnight three-shot lead was reduced to a single stroke after just two holes of his final round in the British Open at Royal Birkdale on Sunday.
Spieth started the day atop the leaderboard on 11 under par but immediately dropped a shot at the difficult par-four 1st hole to go back to -10.
Meanwhile, playing partner Matt Kuchar, eight-under overnight, started with a par and then birdied the 2nd after a stunning approach left him with a tap-in.
That took Kuchar to -9, while Spieth missed his own birdie chance.
Austin Connelly and Brooks Koepka were tied for third overnight on five-under but both had dropped back to -4 after three holes.
