Australia’s ACT Brumbies will be without injured backs Kyle Godwin and Aidan Toua for the remainder of the Super Rugby season, the club said on Monday.
The Australian conference leaders won’t have winger Toua and centre Godwin for the quarter-finals in a fortnight after the pair were injured in Friday’s 16-15 loss to the Queensland Reds.
Toua has been ruled out for up to six weeks after being diagnosed with an ankle sprain, while Godwin is likely to miss up to three months with a knee injury.
“We are disappointed for the guys who have done so much for us this year,” head coach Stephen Larkham said.
But Brumbies flanker Chris Alcock, who sustained a deep gash to his thigh against the Reds, is expected to be in contention for the knockout game in Canberra on July 21.
Rory Arnold suffered a “stinger” to his shoulder, but has recovered and will also be in the selection mix for the last-eight clash.
The Brumbies have already qualified for a home quarter-final as the winners of the Australian conference.
