Austrian skier Elisabeth Goergl, the oldest woman to win a World Cup race, announced her retirement on Monday aged 36.
“Thank you to everyone who always rooted for me, I hope I gave you lots of beautiful moments,” Goergl said in a video posted on social media.
Goergl won two World Championship golds, both of them at Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2011, and two Olympic bronze medals in Vancouver in 2010.
In total Goergl competed in 378 races over 16 seasons, winning seven times, the last in 2014 aged 33 — when she became the oldest female World Cup race winner.
