Retired former NBA coaches Hubie Brown and Al Attles were presented the National Basketball Coaches Association Lifetime Achievement Award on Sunday before game two of the NBA Finals.
Attles played for the Golden State Warriors while they were still based in Philadelphia, staying with the club in its move to the San Francisco Bay area.
He coached the Warriors over Washington in the 1975 NBA Finals, becoming only the second African-American coach to capture an NBA crown. He went 588-548 in more than 13 seasons guiding the Warriors.
Brown coached the Kentucky Colonels to an American Basketball Association title in 1975 and would take NBA Coach of the Year honors with Atlanta in 1978 and 26 years later as coach of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Brown, whose combined NBA-ABA coaching record was 528-589, was also a television commentator and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor in 2005.
The association, founded in 1976, is the labor organization for NBA coaches.
